Fallin is a small friendly village, three miles East of Stirling, with a generous community spirit and a thriving volunteer base.  Nestled among stunning rural scenery, the village enjoys views of some of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks – including The National Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and the Ochil Hills. There are beautiful walks along the River Forth on one side, and Wester Moss nature reserve on the other, with a rare peat bog so ecologically important it’s legally protected as a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Wester Moss nature reserve sits on a former coal bing, behind what was once Polmaise Colliery. Fallin has a proud history as an ex-mining community, with a memorial garden identifying the former colliery and numerous streets named after our mining heroes. During the 1980s, our Polmaise Colliery miners were the first in the UK to organise strikes and the pit was the last to close. In Polmaise: The Fight For A Pit, John McCormack, a former NUM Delegate, details the events of this significant time in Fallin’s history.

This fighting spirit endures in Fallin, evident in the way our community came together during COVID, continues to support one another through the cost of living crisis, and the generosity of over 500 residents who have supported Fallin Community Voice since we formed in 2022. Fallin Miners Welfare continues to be a key hub in the village for local events and socials.

Fallin is also proud to be home to one of the oldest community-owned pubs in the country. Fallin Public House Society has been running the Gothenburg Pub for over 100 years. What was until recently a rare business model, community owned pubs are now a growing trend across Britain. The pub also plays host to Polmaise Bowling Club – a membership-based lawn bowls club with arguably one of the most impressive backdrops in the country.
